In the heart of São Pedro da Cova, in gondomar, the Mineiro Museum reveals one of the most striking chapters in Portuguese industrial history — the exploration of coal.

Installed in the former “Casa da Malta”, once home to workers who came from far away to the mines, This museum space invites you to a sensorial and immersive journey through the collective memory of a community shaped by the effort and know-how of Minas Gerais.

With a unique collection that includes extraction tools, models, geological samples and thousands of historical documents, the museum also houses an impressive archive of workers' records, accidents, contracts and more 3.500 photographs. One One of his greatest legacies is the collection of oral testimonies from former miners, that give voice to the harsh and dignified experiences of those who descended into the underground galleries.

Recently renovated, the museum offers an immersive and technological experience, with augmented reality environments and holograms that recreate the sounds, smells and rhythms of everyday life in Minas Gerais. Among the featured exhibitions, is a tribute to the women who worked in the coal industry, a contemporary and inclusive look at the past.

This is a living history space, where industrial heritage intersects with museographic innovation.
