Founded by Miguel Reynolds Brandão, an entrepreneurial father, And your daughter, future architect, The idea came up in April 2012, in a cafeteria at Lisbon airport, during a trip to Casablanca, while talking about solutions for open spaces and the need to create a dynamic guest room, in the attic of your house. They wanted something simple, scalable, Easy to assemble and disassemble, and, crucially, without the need for tools, glues or screws.

Corkbrick Europe uses cork, one of the most sustainable and versatile materials in the world, to offer practical and ecological solutions for interior and exterior design.
What makes Cork special and sustainable?
Cork is a unique material, obtained from cork oak bark, a tree that grows predominantly in the Mediterranean region. Cork harvesting does not harm the tree, that regenerates its shell, making this process highly sustainable. Furthermore, cork is light, resistant, waterproof and has excellent thermal and acoustic properties. These attributes make cork an ideal choice for a wide variety of applications., from construction to decoration.
Corkbrick's Modular Innovation
Corkbrick developed a patented modular block system, system-like of modular blocks that fit together like LEGO bricks, which is simple, scalable and easy to assemble and disassemble, thus allowing the creation of diverse structures without the need for tools or permanent fixings. This flexible and easy-to-assemble system is perfect for those looking for customizable and reusable solutions for their spaces.. Among the possible creations are shelves, mesas, chairs, camas, partitions and even small buildings.
At the base of the versatile design is the design of seven different blocks that combine to build structures in any direction, ideal for walls, furniture and other creative applications. This innovative system is designed to empower creative minds looking for practical and environmentally friendly solutions, for interior design and construction.
Each block is made from high quality Portuguese cork, and produced following the philosophy “Just-in-time”, which allows you to reduce stock without compromising customer waiting time, at the same time as guarantees durability and natural aesthetics. The ability to dismantle and rebuild structures allows for unprecedented adaptability, responding to the changing needs of modern spaces, whether at home, offices or commercial spaces.
