Lisbon Design Week 2024 appeals to next generation of Creative Talent
All Designers, Portuguese architects and craftsmen residing in Portugal, are invited to participate.

A year has passed since the inspiring interview with Julie, a Michele e a Lisbon by Design, we return to the event that involves the city of Lisbon and Design – Lisboa by Design. This year we will bring more news, but for now we want to appeal to the unique opportunity of talented designers, emerging architects and artisans in Portugal will be able to participate in the Exhibition of pieces that will be carefully selected to be part of the “Young Design Generation”. It's time to respond to the Open Call promoted by Lisbon Design Week 2024 (LDW’24) in partnership with Roca, as the deadline for registrations is coming to an end!
Discovering New Talents
A LDW’24, in partnership with Roca, invites all young Portuguese creatives or those residing in the country, to submit their work to an exhibition that will celebrate the next generation of design talent. This exhibition, which will take place at the prestigious Roca Lisboa Gallery, Has as Objective Showcase and support emerging national talent, and share with a wide audience, the restless gaze of the generations that are now beginning the future of design as a culture.
The Creative Fusion
Under the theme “Creative Fusion”, the exhibition encourages participants to explore the intersection between Design, Architecture and Crafts, and to challenge traditional boundaries, assuming that any of these concepts can be materialized in an object (part). Submissions of pieces that embody transversal concepts are accepted, or combine elements of these three disciplines (all or just one).
Participants are therefore encouraged to show how their work contributes to going beyond known boundaries in these 3 areas – Design, Architecture and Crafts and submitting objects, HI-FI products or prototypes, full size, occupying an area of less than 1m3 (100x100x100cm).
This is an opportunity for creatives to show how their work contributes to overcoming the limits of knowledge, by paving the way for new forms of expression and innovation.
Who Can Participate?
The Open Call is open to all young Designers, Architects, Craftsmen and students in the creative sector under 35 years until 31 March of 2024, of Portuguese nationality or residents in Portugal, individually or in a team, who wish to make known and share their unique and creative vision, with the world.
How to participate?
Participation is free and each participant or team can submit only one piece. Submissions can be new or existing pieces, as long as they present an innovative and inspiring approach.
Interested parties must submit their submissions by 31 March of 2024.

Submission rules
- Participation is free;
- Each participant or team can only submit one piece;
- The piece may be unpublished or already published., displayed or sold;
- The piece must be presented through photographs or drawings accompanied by a detailed textual description of its specific characteristics;
- The description must articulate the concept and development methodology, allowing the jury to understand the creative vision and its form of execution;
- will be selected 20 parts. If the piece is selected to be included in the exhibition, o(s) author(es) undertake to deliver a HI-FI copy or prototype, accompanied by description and brief biography, until day 15 May at Roca Lisboa Gallery to be exhibited. The piece will be on display until the day 31 July, and then agreeing on the date on which they can collect it at the same location;

The Jury checks the requirement of the initiative
Os 5 jury members, of proven professional merit will evaluate submissions based on the aforementioned criteria, selecting 20 pieces to be displayed, ensuring that selected works are aligned with the objectives of the exhibition:
Jorge Vieira
Managing Director da Roca, S.A. from 2009, being no Grupo Roca since 1991, where he previously served as Commercial Director and Managing Director at Roca Argentina, S.A.
Tony Grillo
Member of the advisory council of Lisbon Design Week 2024, renowned designer and art director of several brands, from 2008 runs his own studio. Em 2023, produced the inaugural public art installation of Lisbon Design Week.
Sam Baron
Member of the LDW24 advisory council, world-renowned designer and owner of Sam Baron & Co, based in Lisbon, recently received the prestigious distinction “Insignes de Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres”.
Ana Thudichum
Designer and PhD in design, aggregate teacher, responsible for the D4S Design for Sustainability master's degree and president of the Research Center of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon (CIEBA).
David Canaes
Brand Designer at FUEL Lisboa and emerging talent, was awarded bronze in the design category at Young Lions 2023 and was also the winner of the Open Brief of the Clube da Criatividade de Portugal.

Portugal Does Good is super excited about the opportunity to celebrate emerging creativity in Portugal, and we invite all creative talents to participate in this exciting Call.
the 20 selected parts will be displayed in the Roca Lisboa Gallery, during the www.lisbondesignweek.pt – the Exhibition will be part of the LDW’24 events and also has the support of the Clube da Criatividade de Portugal. It will undoubtedly be a unique opportunity for Portuguese creatives to be recognized and valued for their talent and innovation.
Furthermore, The authors of the selected pieces will be invited to participate in various events organized by LDW’24, taking advantage of this moment to network and grow professionally.
Important dates
Open Call launch: 1 of February of 2024
Deadline for submitting submission: 31 March of 2024
Revelation of 20 selected pieces: 15 April 2024
Exhibition: Opening day 22 from May of 2024, closing in 31 July of 2024
