Doing is, simultaneously, a Magazine and an Exhibition.

To do : Exhibition and Magazine that explore societal transformation also through Design

In its inaugural edition, Fazer#1 focuses on subjects ranging from graphic design awards to architectural exhibitions, from carpets to coffee machines, from political propaganda to work.

ARTIGOS 4

The new partnership between Fidelidade and Culturgest was named Territory. It is an initiative that brings to the public of Lisbon and Porto a cycle of nine collective exhibitions, and Doing is the fourth moment of the cycle, designed by many other national curators. The focus will be on the interests of these curators not only in the field of art. Your goal is to leave a testimony in your private research territories, through the coexistence of pieces from different origins, ages and status.

Curated/edited by Vera Sacchetti and Frederico Duarte, the Exhibition/Edition To do and Territory#4 inaugurates the 22 of September, at Fidelidade Arte, in Lisbon.

We received it at the beginning of the week, o Invitation to the inauguration and we decided to thank you by sharing the moment. It goes without saying that everything that has to do with “doing”, in Portuguese, arouses our interest, but when it involves know-how, design, art and culture we are fixated on the content.

In this case, We were very interested in the fact that in addition to the Exhibition there is a Magazine, or maybe it's the other way around, due to the fact that there will be a new Magazine, to To do, there is also space for an exhibition. The objective of Fazer is to focus public attention on how design contributes to the major societal transformations we are experiencing, and without seeing anything, we praise the initiative!

First about the Magazine

The inaugural Fazer#1 edition focuses on subjects ranging from graphic design awards to architectural exhibitions, from carpets to coffee machines, from political propaganda to work, and from the invitation we understand that it will be exhibited under the curatorship of Frederico Duarte and Vera Sacchetti. The edition of the Magazine is also by both. From day 22 of September, opening at 10pm, in the Fidelidade Arte space, in Lisbon, will be exposed to Do#1 and then, there will be a second exhibition at Culturgest in Porto, dedicated to Fazer#2.

To do aims to be the main design magazine in the Portuguese language and a new institution active in the field of design in Portugal, and has as its starting point the research and mapping of contemporary design territories, presented and mediated by those who make it and represent it. For such, has an extensive international network of collaborators and partners, that will allow you to address provocative topics through innovative and unexpected formats.
As an editorial and curatorial project, to To do invites a new generation to read, think and act around the discipline of design. Your story begins now.

The exposure

At each exhibition, Territory#4 and Territory#5, the Journal's articles will be presented through associated artefacts and processes. The themes and ideas explored by their authors will be discussed in public programs, that will take place throughout the 15 weeks. Fazer#1 will be launched on 5 of January, day on which the Exhibition at Fidelidade Arte ends.
Entry is free and can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 12pm to 8pm, (exceptional time for this exhibition).

We can't wait to see!
