“Home Index” comes to help the Portuguese make more sustainable choices

Leroy Merlin launched the first environmental and social indicator in Portugal to evaluate the performance of home products, throughout its entire life cycle. O Home Index is categorized from A to E and, tem per base 31 criteria distributed across eight categories covering different dimensions, as environmental, where factors such as, the origin of raw materials, production conditions, water and energy consumption, the transport, repair or end of life, and recyclability.

The Home Index also takes into account factors such as the social and ethical dimension of the product, the social impact and components when producing and using the product. We praise the Leroy Merlin for this informative initiative, and also promote what is in store, made in Portugal!
