New Pop-up of The New Classics of Portuguese Design, creation and industry at the Arts Biennial & Crafts
Portugal does well creates, at the Oeiras Municipal Market, a temporary auditorium where the design, manufacturing and raw materials intersect to debate their cultural dimension.

There are many ways to talk about what is done in Portugal. We can start with the raw material, through knowledge passed from generation to generation, by design, by the hands that produce or by the people who find new ways of working with techniques and processes that are part of our history. At the Arts Biennial & Crafts / Novo Design, all these dimensions meet.
Between 24 , 27 of September, Oeiras hosts the third edition of the Biennale, which brings together about 50 artisans and new makers from different regions of the country, in an exhibition that crosses ceramics, glass, metal, jewelry, madeira, basket weaving, natural fibers, textiles, first, leather and new projects. The program also extends to talks, workshops, heritage education and cultural initiatives.
Portugal Faz Bem was invited to participate in this edition taking on two distinct moments, but linked by the same desire to show and discuss what happens when design meets production and when know-how opens up space for creation.
The first is the creation of a temporary auditorium at the Oeiras Municipal Market, which continues the celebration ofThe New Classics of Brazilian Design, project launched in May, no espaço BPI All in One, in Saldanha. This will be the second presentation of the project, which brings together brands and pieces that affirm the cultural dimension of design, of national industry and mastery, now integrated into the context of the 3rd Arts Biennial & Crafts / Novo Design.
Jointly curated by Joana Beirão and Ana Lia Santos, the space brings together pieces, materials and elements of Portuguese production, transforming a functional space into a place for to receive, approach and talk. Cork, stone, metal and a “a little bit of nature” are aligned in a composition that values the process and the knowledge of those who know how to do it. Among the pieces and elements thatand giving shape to the space are works by designer Ana Lia Santos, pieces by designer Toni Grilo for the Blackcork brand by Sofalca, Bruno's Flowers, pieces of the Gothic Gargoyle and Olivah and, also the collaboration of WindowDecor in the production and assembly.
The second moment takes place in this space, where Portugal Faz Bem promotes two conversations that bring artists together, designers and industry, starting from concrete experiences of creation.
Artistic Residency: a arte, the challenge and privilege of creating INSIDE the Factory
To the 15h00, Beatriz Horta Correia, in partnership with the Alberto Rocha Cerâmica Artesanal, , Susana Piteira, in collaboration with the B Stone, share their creative experiences within a quarry and a manual ceramics factory. Two distinct experiences that reveal the challenges, the discoveries and possibilities that arise when the production space also becomes part of the creative process. What happens when artists get closer to where they produce?? Challenges will be revealed, discoveries and possibilities in a conversation about entering a territory that is not just that of artistic creation, but also that of matter, of the technique and accumulated knowledge of those who transform this material every day.
