Portugal Faz Bem promotes the best Portuguese brands throughout the year
We contribute to building a better world, where people enjoy the best national brands
Portugal Faz Bem is an innovative portal that was born from the desire of a small group of architectural professionals, do design e do marketing, wish to facilitate research and knowledge about Portuguese Brands in one place, in order to give them more prominence and easy access, throughout the year.
Focusing on sharing products and stories about Portuguese know-how from industry to manufacturing, Portugal Faz Bem intends to project and increase the visibility of our industry, providing an informative experience for Portugal brand enthusiasts.

How it all began
Portugal Faz Bem begins with the “Most Portuguese Hotel in the World”” and the creation of a concept for a new ephemeral hotel space, assembled using only Portuguese brands, to the Fair Horexpo & Food, em 2017.
This concept creation action led to 8 months of research and team management that culminates in a montage that exposes 50 Portuguese brands, the quality and diversity of national production and ends after 4 days with huge success. In a hotel space consisting of a Reception area, a small lobby, Living room, Dining room and 2 Premium rooms, created by 5 interior architecture offices based on five different Portuguese narratives, national authenticity was exposed as a transversal element to the tourism boost in the country at the time.
During this creative work, concept management and development of 5 proposals, a lack of systematization of information relating to the Portuguese business sector in the sector is identified, mainly due to its dispersion, at the same time that disinformation regarding Portuguese brands is exposed to the naked eye, since many, despite having international notoriety,, are unknown in Portugal. The result of the success of the action and the realization that the lack of knowledge regarding Portuguese brands in the sector was general, leads to the desire to create a site that maps and tells their stories.
Workshop de Design Thinking & Prototyping

It is of no less importance for the decision to create this portal, the holding of the Horexpo Innovation Lab “O Hotel, that Future and Innovation?”. Triggered by the course of the certification in Design Thinking & Prototyping at the moment, Joana Beirão, author of the concept “The Most Portuguese Hotel in the World”, decides to propose an immersion and concept exploration action, invites about 50 senior and junior hoteliers, to integrate two days of innovation workshops that seek to achieve guidelines for the Hotel of the Future (we were in the year 2017). The objective was achieved and revealed that it was urgent to activate Portugueseness and Portuguese design, among other challenges and needs that the sector presented.
The #PortugalFazBem Meetings
With the data from these two actions in hand, the desire to create this project is born, which first goes through a research phase, compilation of information and mapping as it intended to measure the number of brands that could appear in a new Directory, and what business fabric would actually be mapped. At this stage Joana Beirão works alone and in the exercise of her activity as an interior architect, collecting and systematizing information that was completely dispersed. Em 2018 launches the Portugal Faz Bem version 1.0 on a first landing page that announces a new digital guide dedicated to Portuguese brands and 2019 the first Portugal Faz Bem Meetings with the aim of getting to know and having a closer relationship with creatives, brands and production, to better understand your business relationships.
These Portugal Faz Bem Meetings proved to be an excellent means of research, kicked off at the facilities of Startup Factory, subsequently serve to create the cover of the Magazine “The Voices of Female Entrepreneurship“, followed by a partnership with Roca Lisboa Gallery.
O feedback of those prayed and the assistance were very positive from the outset., and the meetings became regular.
During these Meetings and as more brands became part of the Directory, the tendency and taste for valuing everything that is authentic and local was noticed, in a universal context.
Forcing the analysis and desire to include a pillar linked to tourism in the project (there was a very clear and positive scenario of the increase in this market), the idea of including a dynamic linked to Industrial Tourism was obvious, and the desire arises to create itineraries to visit artisan spaces, manufacturing and industry, with the aim of creating unique experiences and increasing brand awareness on the one hand, and on the other hand, provide the expansion of general knowledge about the production of the sector, which includes construction, decoration, furniture and household items, among others, worth approximately 26,3 billion euros in Portugal, representing about 11% of the country's total GVA.
After some time of maturation, the choice for Design and Architecture is consolidated, Portuguese Production and Tourism as the 3 project action pillars, for the promotion of Portugal through its brands.
In addition to contact with various creatives and professional colleagues and some associations linked to the sector,, it is decided to increase our knowledge regarding data and dynamics about Industrial Tourism in Portugal and in this sense, Turismo de Portugal proves to be a very important partner, as at the time the Portuguese National Industrial Tourism Network was taking its first steps. Right away, After learning about the project, the network's management launches an invitation to participate in the 4.1st Industrial Tourism Webinar in Portugal which is readily accepted. This participation and involvement with the group’s various actions, brings great learning about this type of tourism, and allows you to validate the bet.
Consolidation of the model
Portugal Faz Bem 2.0 presented itself then as a new model portal for Underwriting with the aim of promoting Portuguese Brands through a Directory mapping, and a set of Events , Industrial Tourism Experiences promoted throughout the year. This model is worked on throughout the Covid19 confinement in order to 100% digital, and subsequent deconfinement.
The purpose of the Portugal Faz Bem portal is to contribute to the consolidation of a community that values the quality of the creative and productive process of what is best done in Portugal, and make Portugal known in an accessible and organized structure, through design and intrinsic know-how in Portuguese brands. By appealing to professionals and local productions, contributes to the sustainability of local and authentic industry, and the country's economy, constituent objectives of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and the SDGs 2030 identified by the United Nations in 2015, at a memorable summit at UN headquarters, in New York (USA), backbone of the current model.
Over two years the Portugal Faz Bem Directory has been promoting Factories and Industrial Manufactures, through the mapping of Portuguese Brands and Stories. Os 28 Portuga Faz Bem meetings held over this time, have been strengthening relationships through conversations involving Creativity, Production and Industrial Tourism, which also included the 1st Edition of the Conference Portugal Does Good 3Days Summit, which already explicitly incorporated the term Sustainability. The Experiences Portugal is Good consolidate the desire to boost Industrial Tourism initiatives, that further strengthen the bonds created in these conversations.
