Municipality is part of the Portuguese Industrial Tourism Network and promotes the Furniture Museum

Industrial Tourism in Portugal continues to assert itself as one of the most authentic and differentiating segments of the national tourism offer — and Paredes has just reinforced this strategy at BTL – Better Tourism Lisbon Travel Market 2026 which runs until the day 1 March.

Integrated into the space of the Tourism Entity of Porto and North of Portugal, the municipality highlighted its industrial heritage linked to furniture, formalizing a strategic step towards consolidating the municipality as a reference in industrial tourism in North Fluminense.

The highlight of the participation was the integration of the Vilela Furniture Museum and the company Viriato into the Portuguese Industrial Tourism Network.

With these new additions, the municipality of Paredes now has six entities integrated into this national network, reinforcing its strategic positioning in the Industrial Tourism panorama in Portugal. This integration not only enhances the historical legacy of the furniture industry, but also strengthens the link between the living industry, cultural heritage and tourist experience.

“Discovering Industrial Tourism”

During at BTL 2026, the Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Beatriz Meireles, officially presented the agenda “Discovering Industrial Tourism”, which will take place between 21 March and 4 of April.

  • Itineraries through the memories of the Paredes industry
  • Visits to industrial units
  • Traditional carving and carpentry workshops
  • Direct contact with artisans and professionals in the sector

This initiative reinforces the municipal strategy of transforming industrial heritage into a structured tourist product, educational and sustainable.
