Francisco was born in Lisbon and is passionate about working with wood, “I am impressed by its natural beauty and variety of patterns and textures, and I see wood as the best way to bring my ideas to life”. On the other hand, being a fan and skateboarder, he realized that skateboards, despite being made of very resistant wood, with use and training they break down and become more waste on the planet. A luxury rubbish, since skateboards are made from a very special wood, (Canadian Maple), which adopts several very interesting colors and patterns.

The re.SK8 combines woodworking, art of carpentry with digital manufacturing techniques, with the transformation of waste wood – this new Portuguese brand uses and transforms old and broken skateboards, as well as other wood produced by the furniture industry, in unique pieces of furniture and accessories. “As an architect I find this process highly motivating, because the transformation of wood allows infinite design possibilities, Each piece has a unique pattern and colors. When we look at an old/broken skateboard, We realize that wear marks have a story to tell, of the flights of stairs that flew, to the handrails that slipped and that is why, your story doesn't need to end when you break.
